Portrait photography is the capturing of
a person or group of people in a photograph. Portrait photography requires the use of
lighting, a backdrop, and positioning to show the subject’s personality in a single
picture.
This category includes self-portraits, silhouettes, and headshots.
Lighting, in particular, is important in portraits, with high-key, brightly lit
pictures.
When shooting in our studio, we utilize fast, medium telephoto lenses
to isolate the subject by managing the depth of field, and for outdoor portraits, we use
the other lenses’ effects to blur or emphasize the background features that we want.
